About Mr Payne

Mr. Payne graduated Cum Laude from Elon University in North Carolina with a B.A. in History and a Minor in Economics. As part of his education at Elon, Mr. Payne also pursued his teaching licensure and is a licensed professional social studies teacher in the state of New Jersey. Following Mr. Payne’s graduation from Elon in 2008, he taught for two years in the North Carolina public school systems. Here, Mr. Payne began his career teaching AP World History, Civics and Economics and also developed and implemented an AP Microeconomics course in his first and second years teaching. Mr. Payne is an alum of Ranney School (Class of 2004) and ultimately chose to return to his high school alma mater in 2010 to continue his teaching career. Mr. Payne currently teaches United States History, Honors Modern Conflicts and Honors Law and Legal Systems.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Payne is a three-season, varsity athletic coach for Cross Country, Winter Track and Coed Golf. He also advises the Model United Nations and Ranney School Business Clubs. Mr. Payne is a member of the newly established Ranney School Alumni Council and can occasionally be found working with the school's technology department to develop and maintain the school’s educational technology infrastructure.

Currently, Mr. Payne is pursuing his Masters degree in Educational Leadership at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey.
